Hi everyone,

Im a secondary school english teacher. This year one of my students has started touching my behind. It started as just brushing past, but last week he actually touched my anus, and this week he walked head on into me in the corridor and touched my crotch.

Has anyone else had a similar experience and know how to deal with this behaviour?

I won't give a long response here, because I suspect this story is a joke, but on the slight chance that you're telling the truth, you need to speak to your administrators NOW. I don't mean a week from now or tomorrow. I mean, before you see this student again.

I can't believe that you haven't read your school's sexual-harrassment policy, but if you haven't, get it. If your school doesn't have one, you need to speak to someone about that, but first thing's first: talk to an administrator about this student's behavior. If the administration is not helpful, talk to your union. If you're not in a union, talk to a lawyer.

I doubt that it is a joke. One of our 8th grade teachers had a student who found a variety of ways to stand too close, brush her chest when handing in papers, etc. She complained to administration, and the student was transferred to a male instructor. The kid had a history of trying to touch female teachers.

I really do hope this is some kind of sick joke. If not God help you. The moment this student touched you in a way that was inappropriate you could have had him arrested. You need to talk to administration tommorow. Not after school before you even get into your classroom. If administation doesn't respond go to your union RIGHT AWAY!!!! If that does not fix the problem get a really good lawyer.
