Hi

I am a former secondary computer teacher (M.Ed. computer education), and when I taught I could not find a book on computer programming for students in grades 7-12. To help other teachers and students I wrote one last year and it was just published. There are NO equivalent books out there as all the programming books are written at the college level and not accessible to most teens.

It's called "Java Programming Fundamentals” and introduces the Java programming language in a non-technical context that is very accessible to people with no background in computer programming. The only assumption is some knowledge of basic algebra and the how-to of using a computer.

It is a great book full of illustrations and simple programming tasks and will be very helpful for teachers and students. It is great for a school computer course, as an adjunct text for a math course (algebra enrichment?), etc. It covers most of the AP computer science exam content. It is self-contained (contains disk with all software) so it can be used by a homeschooler. The publisher (Charles River Media, www.charlesriver.com) (http://www.charlesriver.com)) does have a textbook review copy policy for those interested.

I just want to “get the word out” that my book is out and serves the market for a programming books for younger people interested in computers.

Sincerely
Kim Seefeld
