This isn't quite a contest, but I wasn't quite sure where else to put it. As one who used to be a teacher, I know this would be a great project for kids.

A new website will launch in a week or so at http://www.found-art.com. The site promotes a new project that will help break down barriers and use art as a tool to heal our communities.

Participants in the project will create small piece of art. This could be on something like a small manila mailing tag. It can be any kind of art including favorite quotes or poems. These small art pieces are then shared throughout the community by hanging them on trees, leaving them on tables or on shelves in stores, leaving them on bus seats -- any place where someone else can find it and take it.

On the back of the art piece will be a sticker or short not telling about this project, giving the web address, and giving the ID number of the artist who created the piece. The finder can go to the web site and find the artist's page. Each person who signs up at the site will have their own page that will tell about the art they like to do, where they have left pieces of art, and anything they'd like to say about their experience with this project.

I think kids will have a blast doing this! Those that find their art will be able to leave messages for them at the site. So that you don't have to worry about someone tracking down a student, you could register your classroom on the site, rather than letting each individual student do so. This will help keep student anonymity.

Please tell me what you think about this project. And, visit the site in the next couple of weeks and let me know what you think.

Take care!
