What strategies have worked well with incorporating parental involvement at school and at home?

Encouraging parents to attend school conferences as well as PTA meetings. Involving parents with all aspects of the curriculum. By sending newsletters to parents, they will be more aware of the things that are happening with their child and will want to be more involved.

Parents are invited along on field trips as chaperones. If a student needs extra work at home, I make the parent aware with notes or phone calls. Parents are encouraged to attend PTA, and especially when it is Open House.

Parents are encouraged to visit the school on a regular basis. Parents are also invited to go on field trips and attend school council meetings. Teachers send home progress reports stating the strenghts and weaknesses of the students and encourage parents to be actively involved in their children's education. Some teachers also send home home/school game ideas that parents and students can make and use together.
