I have five years of paid teaching experience. Stayed home to raise a family for 12 years, and now want to resart my career. Any suggestions on how to bring myself up to date with new trends?

I don't know what you have done so far, but here is what I would do. I would talk with anyone I knew who was currently a teacher. I would do as much research as possible on the internet and maybe even take an on-line class or two in the area I wanted to teach. You may also want to contact anyone you know in admistration who can help you with things they may be looking for in applicants. I am assuming you have kept your teaching certificate current. If not, that will need to be your first step. Find out what you need to do to update the expired one. This process may update you on the current trends and programs used in schools. I hope some of this helps you get started. Good Luck!

Depend on students being unbelievably out of line most of the time. I'm 23, and what kids pull in high school today shocks me every single day.
