Teaching in LIAONING PROVINCE, CHINA

Looking for an opportunity to experience first-hand the fascinating development of China? Go teaching your mother tongue there is the smoothest way to reach that goal!

Liaoning Province, located in the North of China, is accepting applications from native speakers of English for several of its universities and high schools. We particularly need teachers for conversation class: grammar and vocabulary is not the main problem, but students lack direct contact with native speakers.

Locations vary from the provincial capital, Shenyang, to the coastal cities of Dalian and Huludao, or the interior cities Anshan and Fushun. Preference as for level and location will be taken into account. More information about these cities on www.teach-in-china.cn. (http://www.teach-in-china.cn.) If you have no preference, we will propose you a position that we find suitable for you.

The selection procedure is organised by Liaoning Union of Degree and Graduate Education, which depends of the Provincial Government, where all the job vacancies are centralised and evaluated. The demand for qualified teachers grows, matching the right candidate with the right employer is an essential service. Institutes will directly employ the selected candidates and pay the salary. We make sure that candidates can leave for China with a Z-visa in their hand (allows to work and avoids trouble) and that somebody from the school awaits you at the airport. the service is free.

Teaching in China can be a great experience. The language barrier can be overwhelming at first, but many people will be there to help you through it. The students are wonderful. They are very different than American children. There is a lot of pressure on them for educational success. One thing you must be aware of though, is that the hours are quite different for schools in other countries. The students I worked with over the summer said that they went to school every day but Sunday. They also have class from 7 or 8 in the morning until 9 at night, with two long breaks for lunch and dinner. If anyone has any questions about the conditions or situations in China, please feel free to ask.
