What is everyone's class dynamics like? I know that with my class, a lot of my lessons have to be modified so much, that lesson plans seem to be a joke. I have 24 students (so a full class in primary), grade 2/3, 18 boys, 6 girls. There are 11 lettered kids (behaviour problems and/or learning disabilities). A lesson that should take 30 mintues, with this class, usually ends up being 45 minutes, because 15 minutes involves stopping shoving matches, having the students walk to their desks 2 or 3 times, etc.

I have a pretty basic class, 5/6 split with no behaviour problems nor learning disabilities. I have been able to primarily stick to my lesson plans although my unit plans have changed dramatically. I have found that if my class shows interest in certain themes during the lesson it is wise to modify the unit plan to include lesson extension or even new lessons to maintain their interest.

I have a 4/5 even split. They are a nice class but used to doing what they want when they want. It's been difficult to curb their constant wants to get a drink or go to the bathroom, especially during silent reading.
