2 question interview - social studies

As part of an assignment for a licensure course, I need an elementary teacher to respond to the following questions:

1. How do you approach/teach social studies?
2. How do you integrate other subjects? Please provide examples.

I believe that when you teach Social Studies, you need to first tell the stories of history using the great historical fiction sources out there or just tell the story in words your students understand. Second, teach the skills that all good historians use(that includes map skills and geographical themes).I also use living history (I'm an historial interperter in my spare time).I also use music and video sources to teach facts or give background. You may also want to check out the National Social Studies Standards. Hope that helps.
