I want to know how 1st year teachers survive. How do you balance your children (10 year old), your husband who travels alot, working overtime it seems 24/7? And have no family support in the area? Keeping up with the bills, housework...You have heard this before. Just interested in how you survived?

Hi,
First, remember that their is no need to re-invent the wheel. The fact that you are using this forum is great. The more you can learn from others who have been there, the better you will be.

My best advice to first year teachers is stay organized. Don't let all the work you are doing this year go to waist. After each lesson I place everything (lesson plan, handouts, overheads etc.) in a plastic sleeve and place it in a three ring binder. This only takes a few extra minutes each day, but it will make your next year much easier. This binder will work as your foundation for what you will teach the following year. Yes, of course things will change, but at least you have a foundation from which to work.

Good luck,
