Spelling Ideas for High School!

I have a small group of students that I work with that need some help with spelling. They are in grades 9-11. I need some fresh ideas that won't make the students feel as if they are doing "baby work". Any ideas?

I would suggest using Words Their Way. It covers the entire developmental range and has formative assessments for all levels. You will be able to identify the actual spelling issues and work directly on the gaps rather than the spelling list of random words that does not work.

WTW is time intensive, but I have never seen a program work so well. If you can get a parent volunteer or several, the whole program works great.

I am a 4th grade teacher and I have used the Words Their Way program for 5 years and I LOVE IT!!!

I agree that it is time intensive, but it really meets the individual needs of students. It also allows you to provide students with a variety of activities that not only help their spelling, but their understanding of words as well.
