Hi! I am a Case Manager for a juvenile delinquency prevention program for middle school youth age 11-13. We are a part of our local community action organization. We have after school programs as well as Saturday activities. All of my students but one will listen to me and be respectful. I have one student, though, who has probably seen more bad things in his short lifetime than all of the readers who read this put together. My problem is this...he is a liar. For example, yesterday, someone pushed the call button to the office. There were only 2 students near the call button and I am 99.9% sure that the other child did not push it. Yet, they both said they didn't do it. This happens even when that one particular student is the only one there around. He gets beligerant and lies that he did not do it. Any suggestions on how to get him to take responsibility for his actions? Is there any way that I can use the dynamics of the group to pressure him? THANKS!
