To all Interested Teachers:

I am the manager of SMARTer Kids Connections, a collaborative learning and exchange program. This program is an initiative of the SMARTer Kids Foundation, which is based in Calgary, Alberta.

Each year, eight to ten schools throughout North America are selected to participate in a new round of Connections. All selected applicants receive leading-edge technology, teacher training on effective technology integration, and the opportunity to participate in collaborative learning projects with other students and teachers throughout Canada and the United States. Participation in this two-year program culminates with select students and teachers from each participating school coming to Calgary for a week of fun and adventure. The value of the technology, training, and exchange components of the Connections Program is estimated at US$15,000.

This program is designed specifically for students and teachers in grades five and six. Preference is given to schools that face socioeconomic challenges.

The SMARTer Kids Foundation is now accepting applications for Connections 2002–2004. The Foundation would love to have applicants from your apply for this unique program. I welcome the opportunity to talk with individuals who feel there are schools in their areas that would benefit from a program such as this. Please feel free to contact me so that I may tell you more about the Connections program.

Regards,

SMARTer Kids Foundation
