Charles,
I suspect I am one (teacher with ADD). At the beginning of this school year, my Dr. prescribed the generic of Adapex (sp?), which is phentermine, for weight loss. I found I could finish projects I started, focus on tasks, and not feel "buzzed" or drugged in any way. When I asked about the "side effects" I was told that is basically what Ritalin does for children with ADD. I always thought my job--having to multi-task to the extreme, and constant interruptions for the committee I Chair---was the cause of my behaviors. Now I'm not so sure. Like most kids, I prefer NOT to be on medication, so for weight control/loss I'm following a healthy eating program, but I miss the days of alertness, productivity, and better satisfaction of accomplishments each day.

Thank you for your reply,

I am not sure exactly what happened to you while you were on your medication, but the drugs that I am taking for my ADD tend to make me alert. I to have noticed a change in my abilities while taking the medications, and I am still weighing the positive and negative results. For example: I am experiencing almost total recall of events, extending for a period of up to two weeks later.
