Anyone have any creative ideas on how to get your school involved. I am looking for a way to get my 2nd and 3rd graders involved in the relief effort somehow that will create some sort of connection. Any ideas??
my class is older...but we made pins with hearts. we used small beads and safety pins. but we chose a red and white heart pattern because for one, indonesia's flag is red and white, and also b/c we made an acrostic poem for HEART: H= Helping E=Everyone in A=Asia get R= relief from
T= The tsunami I really would love to see the heart as the symbol spread! We put out pins and poem on cards that say have a heart and help! We have raised quite a bit of money for the red cross so far!

The school that I teach in did two things.First-they got shoeboxes and filled them in with useful things and second-they brought in boxes with clothes and canned food and there were more than 40 boxes, which we gave to FedEx.

Well, at my school, we also did the tsunami shoeboxes. Go on 'google' and look up "tsunami shoeboxes." eventually you'll find the right link. but the shoeboxes can get very expensive. first you have to pay for everything inside because it has to be new. second, you have to put a new t-shirt in every one. third, you have to attach at least five dollars for shipping. it cost me $20 per box
