Recently I had a phone interview that I did very badly in. I had tried to prepare myself as well as I could in advance and thought I had a grasp on the types of questions that would be asked. I wasn't asked any that I had prepared for; I was very embarrased. This was only my 2nd interview as a teacher, the 1st I didn't even really interview they hired me on the spot. Very blessed. My question is what kind of questions and answers should I be prepared for? I taught 4-5 year olds so I'm pretty comfortable there but K-3rd I think that I may be lacking. Does anyone know if there is a place to go to practice interview questions, specifically teacher interview questions? I really want to nail it next time. Right now I'm substituting but I really want a permanant job next school year. Thanks and have a great day!

Be ready to answer questions about your discipline procedures no matter what grade you are interviewing for. Also, be ready to answer situational questions. At my recent interview (last spring), I was asked both of these types of questions. I was also asked about my philosophy of education. Be ready for these types of questions. Other questions asked you can't always be prepared for, but remember to answer to the best of your knowledge. You are a teacher and you will do what is best for every child in your classroom! Stress the individualism of each child, accommodations you are willing to make for children and work, and show your excitement for teaching and working with children. I really love teaching and I made sure that was shown at my interview. Good luck!
