Hello Educational Staff http://www.lessonplansearch.net/ubb/smile.gif

Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Marilyn P. Saffer and I am a woman who lives in Los Angeles, California, in the beautiful country of America.

I am planning to write what I consider to be an extremely timely as well as fascinating book. However, in order for my book to ever see the light of day, I must turn to you for assistance in this endeavor. The book will be entitled, "If You Had a Magic Wand For a Day, What Would You Do With It? - Answers From Young People All Over the World."

As individuals who have far more expertise than I in the area of knowing what makes a young person's mind tick, I now come to you to seek your permission in that I may be able to put forth this question of mine to the most appropriate classes of your own choosing. In addition, I also had the privilege to work within the school system for 16 wonderful years for the organization known as United Cerebral Palsy, of NYC, Inc., so I completely understand your position regarding the protection of your students' rights.

Since it remains my intent that this be carried out in the best possible interests of the individual student, these are the requirements that I would need:

1) I would need to have the student's first name as well as the first initial of their last name.
2) I would need to have the student's present age
3) I would need to have the student's city/town/country

As well as procuring the above information, I would also be mentioning your full name as well as the full names of any additional persons that would be assisting in the research of the book. Of course I would also be mentioning the name of your school and its city/town/country upon the Acknowledgement Page.

Although I would LOVE to be able to include every students' answer in my book, that would cause the book to become too heavy to pick up. Therefore, I have decided that I will choose 3 compositions from each class' contribution, which I feel would best meet my particular criteria.

Naturally we will remain in touch during this entire process, as I am just now in the beginning stages of collecting material for the book. I will e-mail you next month with the details of where you can send the students' replies.

I look forward to your reply with the utmost respect and appreciation and wish you and yours, as well as everybody else and theirs, a healthy, joyous and peaceful holiday season.

Very Sincerely Yours,

Marilyn P. Saffer
