I thought we were moving past accepting stereotypes in America. Someone forgot to tell that to DreamWorks and Steven Spielberg.

I can’t believe DreamWorks and Steven Spielberg produced a movie that so blatantly stereotypes Italian Americans as ignorant, racist, murderers, and clearly stereotypes African Americans and Latinos negatively.
I’m glad someone is standing up for what is right. Go to www.boycottsharktale.com (http://www.boycottsharktale.com) Check it out and take some action!

I thank the previous poster for making some cogent arguments. I visited the website www.boycottsharktale.com (http://www.boycottsharktale.com) and found the arguments there quite persuasive.

Just when we thought we had overcome all the narrow-mindedness in this country, Steven Spielberg and Dreamworks had to churn out a “Finding Nemo” imitation called “Shark Tale” that is packed with negative stereotypes of Italian-Americans, African-Americans, and Hispanic-Americans. In a country as divided as ours is today, we don’t need media moguls such as Steven Spielberg filling our kids’ heads with racial and ethnic stereotypes. Even the most respected film critics have criticized this movie because of its stereotyping.
