HI, I AM A 1991 LAKE ORION GRADUATE. I WOULD LIKE TO CONTACT A FEW OF MY OLD TEACHERS, BUT DO NOT KNOW WHERE TO BEGIN... ANY IDEAS? IS THERE SOME KIND OF A TEACHERS' REGISTRY?

Your absolute best bet is to find someone still at the school who was there when you were. Teachers have a funny way of keeping track of each other even after they move on.

You can check the school's website. If the teacher still teachers there, you can usually contact them that way. If not, a secretary or other staff member may know how to reach them.

There is no teacher registry. Addresses of current and former employees of any given district are typically considered private. These addresses will not be given out upon request due to liability concerns.
In some cases unions have used these addresses to recruit new members. Teachers in hard to find subject areas like science, math, or special education have actually been recruited by headhunters. Con artists have used this information for identify theft. I suppose there have even been problems with stalkers.

Many teachers have registered with their schools and former schools on Classmates.com. Check it out and see if you find them on there.

You can also try Linkedin or Facebook. You would be amazed at how many people of the "older" generation is registered with these networks.

Wow.. Did you know that a teacher would be very happy if they know that some of their students are still looking for them and trying to have constant communication? so nice for a student like you to get in touch of your old teachers.

Send a short letter to the school with your request, including your personal contact info in case someone wants to phone or email you. Include a stamped envelope with your return address in the corner, and the address area empty. Ask that the envelope be sent with your message to your teacher or anyone who might know where the teacher may have gone to. Mention whatever details you remember, such as being a Social Studies teacher, so the message can be directed to the right part of the school...or in case there's been more than one with similar names.
If you have a message such as "Just wanted to thank you for helping me earn the Pulitzer", consider including it in the open letter both so people know why they should help you and in case the teacher doesn't want to answer (or is in the hospital and unable to answer) the teacher might still get your message.
Posting an inquiry here is unlikely to work, mainly because only a tiny fraction of teachers will read the message. Your sending a letter directly to the school is the most certain way of reaching someone associated with your teacher. If you remember the home town and it is small, send a letter to some people with the same last name. Good luck.

I attended elementary school in middletown New York and the name of the school was memorial elementary school. I had a teacher in 1991-1993 named Jane Rosa. I kept in contact with her for many years after I was in high school but lost touch with her. I have tried facebook, myspace, people search, calling the board of education, the teachers union and no one can or will give me and information or help. I am hoping she might see this or someone that knows her will and let her know I am looking for her. My name is Tabatha she will know who it is just by my first name. Thanks for any help in advance.
