Problems in our education system

Hello,

I am a college student attending Colorado State University. I am gathering information for a research paper concerning possible problems in the United States Education system.

While conducting my research, I found several examples of people loosing their belief and faith in our education system. Our test scores are low. Compared to others in the international community, we are far below average. What I am trying to find out, is what we can do, as a country to fix the problem? What or who do we blame? And how do we solve this?

One reason that conviently goes unnoticed is the lack of freedom and liberty to be a (true) teacher.
We all know what freedom means, but liberty is confussing. I define liberty as the right to be yourself. Both these ellements are diminishing fast do to new presures.
Systems get more conservative in times of stress, which means they play it safe.
