Hello fellow teachers!

I am a 9th grade teacher and am currently working on obtaining my Masters degree. In picking a topic for a paper, I decided on researching the problems we as teachers face when we have an unsupportive administration. I am looking for input!

I would like specific examples of times that you have not been supported by your principals or superintendents. Times that you feel the school is being run by the students and that preferential treatment is given to specific students.

I also am looking for solutions to this problem. How do you go about getting changes in an administration that is completely lacking any sort of effectiveness? Have you had any success in the past at removing a principal that is not doing his/her job?

If you would like to get your thoughts and feelings to me, I'd appreciate it! Posting here works, but emailing me at: ldorrington@stny.rr.com as well would be preferred so I could keep all responses in an active folder.

Hi Lynne,

I know what you mean and I have plenty of stories for you, such as:

In brief:

I was substitute teaching, planing to become a teacher.I sent a little angle to the principle for bad behavior and he ( as well as classmates changed what I said to get me fired) I wasn't allowed to confront them or obtain "specific information". Given I was an at will employee, ( info. obtained from a $250.00 Employment attorney) basically I was hung out to dry. Know I'm finding out that other districts are not hiring me. They are playing a silent game, i.e. no specific info, vague and general statements.

Despite evidence that I was not only talented and gifted at teaching, I'm really doubting or better, I've realized the legalities of teaching thought paranoid and hysteria has ruined teaching for me; I also think it is ruining teaching in general, in addition to our society.

I've found some serious hypocrisy, I'm wondering what you have to say.
